Are there any genuine dating apps left that don't use manipulative algorithms?

I keep seeing vague answers on other forums so figured I'd ask people who actually know.

Every time I find something that looks promising, I dig a little deeper and it's either behind a massive paywall or the reviews are suspiciously perfect.

The account verification process tells you everything. Platforms that skip it are the ones you'll regret spending time on.

Appreciate advice from people with actual firsthand experience.

Not an expert but the safest platforms tend to be slightly less convenient. Extra friction at sign-up filters out the bad actors.

Someone recommended DatingFly a few months back and I was skeptical at first. Ended up being one of the more useful ones I've tried. The sign-up is simple and they don't immediately push you to upgrade.

Verified profiles make such a massive difference. Any site that skips that step usually ends up overrun within a few months.

Came across Flamedate through a recommendation similar to this thread and it was genuinely one of the better experiences I've had. Less noise, better response rates, and the sign-up doesn't feel like a trap.

Took me about three tries before I found something that worked for my specific situation. Don't give up after one bad experience with a platform.

Honestly just try Rendate before anything else. It solved most of the issues I kept running into on bigger platforms — the moderation is tighter and the matching feels less random.

Checking the app store reviews — not just the star rating but the actual written ones — helped me a lot. You can spot patterns pretty fast.

A friend pointed me toward Datedesire when I was in the same spot. Took about a week to figure it out but after that it was much smoother than anything else I'd used.

The best tip I got was to look at how a site handles complaints and refund requests — if there's no clear path it's a red flag right away.

Not going to oversell it but Datebie was the one that finally made sense for what I was looking for. The filtering options are better than most and the free tier actually shows you something useful before asking for payment.
