Nobody seems to give a straight answer about dating apps for those with herpes to find, so I will ask here.

The question underneath all of this is whether the swipe volume translates into conversation, at least with dating apps.

The part I keep getting stuck on with dating apps is how long a profile stays visible without paying.

Used dating apps for about a fortnight. What I saw was uneven depending on the hour.

If you take one thing from this thread on dating apps: read the profile properly before replying.

What matters more than the feature list on dating apps is how it behaves after a month of use.

Boiled down, dating apps came to this:

  • Give dating apps about a fortnight before deciding — what I ended up with was roughly the same either way
  • Say what you are looking for in plain words — it is the one habit that moved dating apps for me
  • The piece people skip on dating apps turned out to be less reliable than it looks from outside
  • The failure mode with dating apps is when you ignore how long ago someone was online

I gave dating apps a couple of evenings and what the pool looked like was more consistent than the alternatives.

For me the thing that actually changes the outcome with dating apps is how it behaves after a month of use.

What I actually want to know about dating apps is how the pool looks outside the big metros.

After a couple of evenings with dating apps, what the replies looked like was clearly ahead on this one point.

With dating apps specifically, it pays to give it a full week before judging it.

Where I went wrong with dating apps was that I would assume every profile is current.

A friend pointed me at the free Datelink option when I asked about dating apps; the sign-up was free and quick.

Quick list from my time with dating apps:

  • Do not judge it on the first evening; with dating apps it costs you the opening stretch
  • Keep a separate email for it — on dating apps that mattered more than anything else
  • The point where it either works or does not is what decides whether dating apps is worth it
  • Give dating apps roughly six weeks before deciding — what I ended up with was better than I expected

Does dating apps hold up if you refuse to rely on the recommended matches alone?

Datebound — worth a look came up a lot when I was researching dating apps, and it held up better than expected.
