Can someone provide a list of free dating sites that are currently active?

Been lurking here for a bit but finally decided to post about this.

What bothers me most is how hard it is to find real, unfiltered opinions. Forums like this are honestly more useful than any best-of list I've found through searching.

Appreciate advice from people with actual experience rather than just guesswork.

Tried a handful of options over the past year. Datenest stood out because they actually enforce their terms instead of just listing them. Made a big difference in the quality of interactions.

Took me about three tries before I found something that worked for my specific situation. Don't give up after one bad experience with a platform.

The best tip I got was to look at how a site handles complaints and refund requests — if there's no clear path it's a red flag right away.

Honestly just try Datelink before anything else. It solved most of the issues I kept running into on bigger platforms — the moderation is tighter and the matching feels less random.

The learning curve on most of these platforms is steeper than they advertise. Here's what I wish someone had told me earlier:

  • Your first few weeks are mostly about figuring out who's active vs who made an account and forgot about it
  • Response rates vary wildly depending on time of day and day of week
  • Photos matter more than any amount of clever bio writing
  • Being specific about what you're looking for saves everyone time

Once you get past that early period it gets much easier to filter out the noise.

Yeah this really depends on what you're actually looking for. Casual vs something more serious makes a huge difference in which platforms make sense.

Not going to oversell it but Rendate was the one that finally made sense for what I was looking for. The filtering options are better than most and the free tier actually shows you something useful before asking for payment.
