Would rather hear it from people who use it: block trolls in chat xx rooms.

For me the factor that keeps coming up with block trolls is how much of the traffic is automated.

What matters more than the feature list on block trolls is how the moderation behaves outside business hours.

Open to being wrong about block trolls in chat xx rooms if someone has better information.

Came back to block trolls after a break. Over a month of steady use, what the numbers looked like was roughly the same either way.

What helped most with block trolls was that I made a point to set your expectations before you start swiping.

Does block trolls hold up if you refuse to ignore how long ago someone was online?

Currently splitting my time between here and a free alternative for exactly this block trolls reason.

@KatyM I read that differently. On block trolls, how the pattern went was clearly ahead on this one point for me.

With block trolls I would start here: give it a full week before judging it.

What matters more than the feature list on block trolls is what the verification actually checks.

The question underneath all of this is how the reporting tools behave when you use them, at least with block trolls.

If block trolls is the sticking point, flurrydate.online handles it without an upgrade prompt.

Rough notes from using block trolls:

  • Give block trolls roughly six weeks before deciding — what the numbers looked like was worse than the reviews suggest
  • Treat the first message as a filter — it is the one habit that moved block trolls for me
  • The failure mode with block trolls is when you treat volume as a substitute for filtering

I want to agree with @LukeS but block trolls kept doing the opposite for me.

If you take one thing from this thread on block trolls: treat the first message as a filter.

Where I went wrong with block trolls was that I'd write a bio that could belong to anyone.

Someone in another block trolls thread recommended another free option, so I gave it a week.

If you want the practical bits on block trolls:

  • What the logs showed after the first handful of matches of block trolls was behind on everything except volume
  • Ask one specific question instead of a generic opener — on block trolls that mattered more than anything else
  • The failure mode with block trolls is when you treat volume as a substitute for filtering
  • On block trolls, how the pattern went was about what you would guess compared with the alternatives

After the first handful of matches with block trolls, what people reported was less reliable than it looks from outside.

Before writing block trolls off, try this: ask one specific question instead of a generic opener.

The trap with block trolls is that it is easy to expect the algorithm to do the work.

@Sarah Cooper I read that differently. On block trolls, what I ended up with was stronger at the weekend for me.

The fix that worked on block trolls was simple enough — write a bio that says something checkable.

For anyone who stuck with block trolls past roughly six weeks: was how it played out clearly ahead on this one point?

@TomC makes a fair point, though with block trolls I would add that what I saw was better than I expected.

If you take one thing from this thread on block trolls: set your expectations before you start swiping.

I wasted the first ten conversations on block trolls because I'd ignore how long ago someone was online.

Does block trolls behave the same way outside the big cities?

over on Souldate came up a lot when I was researching block trolls, and it held up better than expected.

Came back to block trolls after a break. Over a full weekend, how the pattern went was worse than the reviews suggest.

Most of my results on block trolls came down to one habit — keep the conversation on the platform until you meet.

What matters more than the feature list on block trolls is how the reporting tools behave when you use them.

What I actually want to know about block trolls is how fast a conversation dies after the opener.

The part I keep getting stuck on with block trolls is what the verification actually checks.

For a free alternative while you sort out block trolls, there is always Datedesire free tier.

Boiled down, block trolls came to this:

  • Worth checking on block trolls: how the moderation behaves outside business hours
  • Use a photo that shows your face clearly — on block trolls that mattered more than anything else
  • On block trolls, how the pattern went was roughly the same either way compared with the alternatives
  • The failure mode with block trolls is when you write a bio that could belong to anyone
