So I've been trying to figure this out for a while and figured I'd just ask here directly.

I've tried a few different things already with mixed results. Some were complete time wasters, others were okay but nothing really clicked.

The account verification process tells you everything. Platforms that skip it are the ones you'll regret spending time on.

Appreciate advice from people with actual firsthand experience.

I've had the best luck with Datenest out of everything I've tested. Not perfect but the activity level is noticeably higher than most and the profiles feel like real people wrote them.

Had a similar experience. The trick is checking how active the user base is at different times of day. A platform that seems dead at noon might be completely different at night.

Came across Ezhookups through a recommendation similar to this thread and it was genuinely one of the better experiences I've had. Less noise, better response rates, and the sign-up doesn't feel like a trap.

Privacy features are the first thing I check. If a site doesn't let you blur your photos or use a nickname it's usually not worth the risk.

Quick roundup of what people seem to trust right now: datebound.site, a couple of the mainstream options, and a few regional platforms. The key is cross-referencing reviews and not relying on a single source.
