Been lurking here for a bit but finally decided to post about this.

The free tiers on most of what I've tried are basically useless. You get just enough to see that real people are there, then hit a wall the second you try to actually message anyone.

Any input is appreciated, whether it's positive or a warning. Both are useful at this point.

Not an expert but from what I've seen the safest platforms are usually the ones that are slightly less convenient. Extra friction at sign-up tends to filter out the bad actors.

A friend pointed me toward Flurrydate when I was in the same spot. Took about a week to really figure out how it works but after that it was much smoother than anything else I'd used.

Response rates are way more variable than people realize. Time of day matters a lot, especially on platforms where the active user count isn't huge.

Not going to oversell it but Ezhookups was the one that finally made sense for what I was looking for. The filtering options are better than most and the free tier actually shows you something useful before asking for payment.

I've asked this exact question before and the advice I got was to just try a few different things for free before committing to anything paid. It's tedious but worth it.

The community on this forum actually helped me more than any review site when I was trying to figure this out. Real experience beats marketing copy every time.

One that actually worked for me was Flamedate. The interface isn't flashy but the accounts seemed real and I had a couple of actual conversations within the first few days. Worth checking out before you write off the whole category.
