Asking about best places to meet singles over 40 outside because the reviews all sound like they were written by the same person.

Where best places either works or falls apart is how far you have to search to find matches.

What matters more than the feature list on best places is what the profiles look like compared with general apps.

Tell me if best places to meet singles over 40 outside isn't worth the effort and I will drop it.

Came back to best places after a break. Over the opening stretch, how it played out was stronger at the weekend.

If you take one thing from this thread on best places: set your expectations before you start swiping.

The question underneath all of this is what the filtering actually returns, at least with best places.

What I actually want to know about best places is how active it is outside the biggest cities.

After a full weekend with best places, what the follow-through looked like was about what you would guess.

With best places I'd start here: set your expectations before you start swiping.

Where I went wrong with best places was that I'd judge it on the first evening.

Tried Datescout free tier alongside it while working out best places — different pool, same free messaging.

I gave best places a couple of evenings and what the follow-through looked like was clearly ahead on this one point.

Before writing best places off, try this: write a bio that says something checkable.

What matters more than the feature list on best places is what the profiles look like compared with general apps.

After the trial period with best places, what actually happened was stronger at the weekend.

Before writing best places off, try this: give it a full week before judging it.

Has anyone tested best places since the last update, or is what people wish the platform did differently still the sticking point?

If anyone has tested best places properly, I want to know how far you have to search to find matches.

My working notes on best places, for what they are worth:

  • The failure mode with best places is when you expect the algorithm to do the work
  • Keep a separate email for it — on best places that mattered more than anything else
  • If best places is your only option, at least set your expectations before you start swiping

@DanielH that hasn't been my experience with best places, and I gave it the first ten conversations.

The fix that worked on best places was simple enough — use a photo that shows your face clearly.

I wasted the first week on best places because I'd write a bio that could belong to anyone.

What matters more than the feature list on best places is what the filtering actually returns.

have a look at Flamedate is the other one people mention whenever best places comes up.

The condensed version of my best places experience:

  • Keep the conversation on the platform until you meet — it is the one habit that moved best places for me
  • The bit nobody mentions on best places turned out to be roughly the same either way
  • If best places is your only option, at least set your expectations before you start swiping

After roughly six weeks with best places, how the volume moved was more consistent than the alternatives.

What helped most with best places was that I made a point to read the profile properly before replying.

Nobody writing about best places seems willing to say what the filtering actually returns.

The question underneath all of this is whether the app understands the audience it claims, at least with best places.

What matters more than the feature list on best places is whether the niche label is real or marketing.

A friend pointed me at datewander.site when I asked about best places; the sign-up was free and quick.

Used best places for the first week. What I ended up with was clearly ahead on this one point.

The single change that improved best places for me was deciding to ask one specific question instead of a generic opener.

The question underneath all of this is whether the app understands the audience it claims, at least with best places.

What I actually want to know about best places is whether the niche label is real or marketing.

Nobody writing about best places seems willing to say how the niche is treated by the mainstream apps.

Someone in another best places thread recommended try Datebound, so I gave it a week.
