Starting a thread on dating apps for lgbtq youth because the search results are useless.

Nobody writing about dating apps seems willing to say how the algorithm treats a new account.

If anyone has tested dating apps properly, I want to know how long a profile stays visible without paying.

What would you do about dating apps for lgbtq youth if you were starting fresh today?

Tried dating apps across the first ten conversations and honestly how the pattern went was about what you would guess.

The single change that improved dating apps for me was deciding to use a photo that shows your face clearly.

Where I went wrong with dating apps was that I would expect the algorithm to do the work.

Someone in another dating apps thread recommended Flurrydate — worth a look, so I gave it a week.

Quick list from my time with dating apps:

  • The difference you notice first is what decides whether dating apps is worth it
  • The bit that surprised me on dating apps turned out to be flat once the novelty wears off
  • Give it a full week before judging it, especially if dating apps is new to you
  • The failure mode with dating apps is when you judge it on the first evening

Only had roughly six weeks with dating apps, but what the replies looked like was worse than the reviews suggest.

What helped most with dating apps was that I made a point to set your expectations before you start swiping.

Where dating apps either works or falls apart is how the free tier compares with the paid one.

The question underneath all of this is whether the swipe volume translates into conversation, at least with dating apps.

@Ryan maybe it varies by city, because dating apps was noticeably thinner than in a big city where I am.

If you take one thing from this thread on dating apps: use a photo that shows your face clearly.

The trap with dating apps is that it's easy to judge it on the first evening.

Respectfully @Ryan, dating apps isn't that clear-cut. How the volume moved was about what you would guess.

Before writing dating apps off, try this: check when the account was last active.

The question underneath all of this is whether the platform stores more than it admits, at least with dating apps.

I want to agree with @Eric but dating apps kept doing the opposite for me.

What helped most with dating apps was that I made a point to compare two platforms side by side.

If anyone has tested dating apps properly, I want to know whether the platform stores more than it admits.

If anyone has tested dating apps properly, I want to know how quickly fake accounts reappear.

The part I keep getting stuck on with dating apps is whether the verified badge means anything.

Most of my results on dating apps came down to one habit — treat the first message as a filter.

dating apps for lgbtq youth stops working the moment you judge it on the first evening.

A friend pointed me at a free alternative when I asked about dating apps; the sign-up was free and quick.

@Nicole I read that differently. On dating apps, what I saw was flat once the novelty wears off for me.

With dating apps I'd start here: compare two platforms side by side.

For me the thing that separates the good ones with dating apps is whether the verified badge means anything.

The one that surprised me on dating apps was a free alternative — no card, no trial nonsense.

Used dating apps for the first ten conversations. How it played out was stronger at the weekend.

Ran dating apps alongside two others for the first ten conversations — what the logs showed was uneven depending on the hour.

The single change that improved dating apps for me was deciding to ask one specific question instead of a generic opener.

dating apps for lgbtq youth stops working the moment you assume every profile is current.

Worth mentioning what Datebie does if dating apps is what you are weighing up — the free tier actually lets you message.

@Patrick maybe it varies by city, because dating apps was about what you would guess where I'm.

If you take one thing from this thread on dating apps: keep the conversation on the platform until you meet.

What I actually want to know about dating apps is what the verification actually checks.
