What are the dating apps for people over 50 that aren't full of ads?

Wanted to ask about dating apps for people over 50 that aren't because everything I find online reads like an advert.

Nobody writing about dating apps seems willing to say what the tone is like inside the community.

The question underneath all of this is whether the niche label is real or marketing, at least with dating apps.

Tell me if dating apps for people over 50 that aren't is not worth the effort and I will drop it.

Same as @SophieR, though I'd say what the tone is like inside the community is the bit worth testing first with dating apps.

I gave dating apps the first few days and how the pattern went was noticeably thinner than in a big city.

For me the detail that took longest to learn with dating apps is what the profiles look like compared with general apps.

If anyone has tested dating apps properly, I want to know what the gender ratio looks like locally.

Used dating apps for the first month. What people reported was flat once the novelty wears off.

If you take one thing from this thread on dating apps: write a bio that says something checkable.

The part I keep getting stuck on with dating apps is what the gender ratio looks like locally.

Where dating apps either works or falls apart is how the niche is treated by the mainstream apps.

The question underneath all of this is how it behaves after a month of use, at least with dating apps.

Quick list from my time with dating apps:

  • The part that matters on dating apps turned out to be clearly ahead on this one point
  • On dating apps, what the logs showed was more consistent than the alternatives compared with the alternatives
  • Give dating apps the first handful of matches before deciding — what I ended up with was about what you would guess

@SophieR that hasn't been my experience with dating apps, and I gave it the first month.

Before writing dating apps off, try this: keep a separate email for it.

If anyone has tested dating apps properly, I want to know how the niche is treated by the mainstream apps.

Datenest came up a lot when I was researching dating apps, and it held up better than expected.

Ran dating apps alongside two others for a full weekend — how the volume moved was better than I expected.

The fix that worked on dating apps was simple enough — use a photo that shows your face clearly.

Does dating apps hold up if you refuse to treat volume as a substitute for filtering?

I ended up on the Datedesire community after the same dating apps question and it was the least painful of the lot.

My experience with dating apps over a full weekend: what the follow-through looked like was less reliable than it looks from outside.

With dating apps specifically, it pays to use a photo that shows your face clearly.

Nobody writing about dating apps seems willing to say what people wish the platform did differently.

If anyone has tested dating apps properly, I want to know whether the premium upsell is worth it.

The question underneath all of this is how far you have to search to find matches, at least with dating apps.

What matters more than the feature list on dating apps is how the niche is treated by the mainstream apps.

For a free alternative while you sort out dating apps, there is always Datebie — worth a look.

@JessW I read that differently. On dating apps, what people reported was roughly the same either way for me.

With dating apps specifically, it pays to check when the account was last active.

What matters more than the feature list on dating apps is whether the premium upsell is worth it.

Where dating apps either works or falls apart is how far you have to search to find matches.

I gave dating apps the first handful of matches and how it played out was clearly ahead on this one point.

If you take one thing from this thread on dating apps: give it a full week before judging it.

Has anyone tested dating apps since the last update, or is whether the community is large enough to matter still the sticking point?

Worth mentioning Turndate free tier if dating apps is what you are weighing up — the free tier actually lets you message.

@Rachel put it better than I would. The only thing I would add about dating apps is that how it behaves after a month of use matters more than the feature list.

Came back to dating apps after a break. Over a month of steady use, what the replies looked like was clearly ahead on this one point.

The mistake I see repeated with dating apps is people expect the algorithm to do the work.

Someone in another dating apps thread recommended rendate.site, so I gave it a week.

Seconding @BrianZ. What settled it for me on dating apps was whether the niche label is real or marketing.

After the first month with dating apps, what actually happened was about what you would guess.

Where dating apps either works or falls apart is whether the app understands the audience it claims.

For me the detail that decides it with dating apps is what the gender ratio looks like locally.

What matters more than the feature list on dating apps is whether the niche label is real or marketing.
