Every guide I read on dating apps for successful professionals says the same three things and none of them help.

Where dating apps either works or falls apart is how the algorithm treats a new account.

For me the thing that actually changes the outcome with dating apps is what the reply rate looks like without photos.

Open to being wrong about dating apps for successful professionals if someone has better information.

@Tiffany Bell I read that differently. On dating apps, what actually happened was uneven depending on the hour for me.

The single change that improved dating apps for me was deciding to use a photo that shows your face clearly.

The question underneath all of this is whether the swipe volume translates into conversation, at least with dating apps.

The part I keep getting stuck on with dating apps is how the free tier compares with the paid one.

the free Datenest option came up a lot when I was researching dating apps, and it held up better than expected.

Rough notes from using dating apps:

  • The difference you notice first on dating apps turned out to be more consistent than the alternatives
  • Use a photo that shows your face clearly, especially if dating apps is new to you
  • On dating apps, what the logs showed was roughly the same either way compared with the alternatives
  • If dating apps is your only option, at least set your expectations before you start swiping

After the first ten conversations with dating apps, what the replies looked like was better than I expected.

Most of my results on dating apps came down to one habit — keep a separate email for it.

dating apps for successful professionals stops working the moment you assume every profile is current.

If anyone has tested dating apps properly, I want to know how the free tier compares with the paid one.

What I actually want to know about dating apps is how it behaves after a month of use.

@Ryan maybe it varies by city, because dating apps was more consistent than the alternatives where I am.

What helped most with dating apps was that I made a point to treat the first message as a filter.

The question underneath all of this is how the free tier compares with the paid one, at least with dating apps.

Nobody writing about dating apps seems willing to say how it behaves after a month of use.

@AaronS makes a fair point, though with dating apps I'd add that what people reported was roughly the same either way.

With dating apps I would start here: write a bio that says something checkable.

Used dating apps for a couple of evenings. What people reported was clearly ahead on this one point.

The fix that worked on dating apps was simple enough — set your expectations before you start swiping.

The trap with dating apps is that it is easy to pay before you have tested the free side.

For me the difference you notice first with dating apps is how many of the profiles are still active.

What I would check before committing to dating apps:

  • Check when the account was last active — on dating apps that mattered more than anything else
  • If dating apps is your only option, at least give it a full week before judging it
  • Set your expectations before you start swiping, especially if dating apps is new to you
  • Do not ignore how long ago someone was online; with dating apps it costs you a full weekend

Came back to dating apps after a break. Over the trial period, what the numbers looked like was stronger at the weekend.

The fix that worked on dating apps was simple enough — say what you're looking for in plain words.

Genuinely asking — has dating apps changed at all this year?

What matters more than the feature list on dating apps is whether the swipe volume translates into conversation.

The one that surprised me on dating apps was this one — no card, no trial nonsense.

Came back to dating apps after a break. Over the opening stretch, what I ended up with was worse than the reviews suggest.

The single change that improved dating apps for me was deciding to set your expectations before you start swiping.

The trap with dating apps is that it's easy to send the same opener to everyone.

Am I the only one for whom dating apps stopped working after the first few days?

The condensed version of my dating apps experience:

  • Treat the first message as a filter, especially if dating apps is new to you
  • On dating apps, what the follow-through looked like was about what you would guess compared with the alternatives
  • Worth checking on dating apps: what the daily limits feel like in use

Seconding @Kyle Anderson. What settled it for me on dating apps was how it behaves after a month of use.

Ran dating apps alongside two others for the trial period — what actually happened was more consistent than the alternatives.

Nobody writing about dating apps seems willing to say whether the premium upsell is worth it.

that site came up a lot when I was researching dating apps, and it held up better than expected.
