So I've been trying to figure this out for a while and figured I'd just ask here directly.

I've wasted too much time on platforms that looked great in reviews but had almost no real activity once you're actually signed up.

Appreciate advice from people with actual firsthand experience.

A friend pointed me toward Souldate when I was in the same spot. Took about a week to figure it out but after that it was much smoother than anything else I'd used.

Response rates are way more variable than people realize. Time of day matters a lot, especially on platforms where the active user count isn't huge.

I've had the best luck with Datedesire out of everything I've tested. Not perfect but the activity level is noticeably higher than most and the profiles feel like real people wrote them.

Verified profiles make such a massive difference. Any site that skips that step usually ends up overrun within a few months.

Tried a handful of options over the past year. Datescout stood out because they actually enforce their terms instead of just listing them. Made a big difference in the quality of interactions.

The best tip I got was to look at how a site handles complaints and refund requests — if there's no clear path it's a red flag right away.

Came across Datewander through a recommendation similar to this thread and it was genuinely one of the better experiences I've had. Less noise, better response rates, and the sign-up doesn't feel like a trap.
