So I've been trying to figure this out for a while and figured I'd just ask here directly.

What bothers me most is how hard it is to find real, unfiltered opinions. Forums like this are honestly more useful than any best-of list I've found.

The free tiers on most of what I've tried are basically useless — you get just enough to see real people are there, then hit a wall the moment you try to message anyone.

Appreciate advice from people with actual firsthand experience.

Been using turndate.site for a few months now alongside a couple of the mainstream apps. More straightforward, less gamified. If you're tired of swiping endlessly it might be a nice change of pace.

Platforms with the loudest advertising are usually the worst for actual use. The good ones tend to grow through word of mouth.

One that actually worked for me was Souldate. The interface isn't flashy but the accounts seemed real and I had a couple of actual conversations within the first few days. Worth checking out before you write off the whole category.

The community size matters a lot less than people think. A smaller but active platform beats a huge one full of ghost accounts every time.

I've had the best luck with Datebound out of everything I've tested. Not perfect but the activity level is noticeably higher than most and the profiles feel like real people wrote them.
