This has been on my mind lately and figured this community would have solid input.

The main problem I keep running into is not knowing who to trust or where to even start. There's a ton of conflicting advice out there and half of it feels like it's from people who just want to sell you something.

Feel free to share whatever has worked for you, even if it's not the obvious answer.

From what I've seen the key is reading the cancellation and subscription policies before you put any card info in. Some of these platforms make it intentionally confusing.

Not going to oversell it but Souldate was the one that finally made sense for what I was looking for. The filtering options are better than most and the free tier actually shows you something useful before asking for payment.

Not an expert but the safest platforms are usually slightly less convenient. Extra friction at sign-up tends to filter out the bad actors.

The learning curve on most of these platforms is steeper than they advertise. Here's what I wish someone had told me earlier:

  • Your first few weeks are mostly about figuring out who's active vs who made an account and forgot about it
  • Response rates vary wildly depending on time of day and day of week
  • Photos matter more than any amount of clever bio writing
  • Being specific about what you're looking for saves everyone time

Once you get past that early period it gets much easier to filter out the noise.

Someone recommended Flurrydate to me a few months back and I was skeptical at first. Ended up being one of the more useful ones I've tried. The sign-up is simple and they don't immediately push you to upgrade.

Privacy features are the first thing I check. If a site doesn't let you blur your photos or use a nickname it's usually not worth the risk.
