Which platform do you consider the best local dating app for the UK?

Wanted to ask about platform because everything I find online reads like an advert.

The part I keep getting stuck on with platform is what happens when you widen the radius.

For me the bit nobody mentions with platform is how the map view compares with the list.

Would rather hear one honest answer on platform than ten polished ones.

@NicoleB put it better than I'd. The only thing I'd add about platform is that what happens when you widen the radius matters more than the feature list.

I gave platform the first ten conversations and what the pool looked like was less reliable than it looks from outside.

Has anyone tested platform since the last update, or is what the commuter effect does to the numbers still the sticking point?

@LukeS maybe it varies by city, because platform was stronger at the weekend where I am.

Before writing platform off, try this: check when the account was last active.

I wasted the first month on platform because I would ignore how long ago someone was online.

Would you still recommend platform knowing what you know now?

Someone in another platform thread recommended Datebie dating, so I gave it a week.

@NicoleB put it better than I would. The only thing I would add about platform is that what the travel radius realistically is matters more than the feature list.

My experience with platform over the first few days: how the pattern went was flat once the novelty wears off.

Does platform hold up if you refuse to assume every profile is current?

The part I keep getting stuck on with platform is whether the premium upsell is worth it.

The question underneath all of this is how many of the profiles are still active, at least with platform.

Worth mentioning the Datingfly community if platform is what you are weighing up — the free tier actually lets you message.

Used platform for a couple of evenings. What actually happened was worse than the reviews suggest.

What helped most with platform was that I made a point to give it a full week before judging it.

The mistake I see repeated with platform is people rely on the recommended matches alone.

The part I keep getting stuck on with platform is how many of the profiles are still active.

Nobody writing about platform seems willing to say how the pool changes at weekends.

Where platform either works or falls apart is how it behaves after a month of use.

If platform is the sticking point, flamedate.online handles it without an upgrade prompt.

Seconding @KatyM. What settled it for me on platform was how thin the pool gets outside the centre.

Ran platform alongside two others for about a fortnight — what the numbers looked like was less reliable than it looks from outside.

What would you check first on platform if how the free tier compares with the paid one was your main worry?

What matters more than the feature list on platform is how the pool changes at weekends.

My working notes on platform, for what they are worth:

  • Write a bio that says something checkable — it is the one habit that moved platform for me
  • The failure mode with platform is when you send the same opener to everyone
  • Set your expectations before you start swiping — on platform that mattered more than anything else
  • Keep a separate email for it, especially if platform is new to you

Ran platform alongside two others for the first week — what actually happened was about what you would guess.

Before writing platform off, try this: keep a separate email for it.

The trap with platform is that it's easy to expect the algorithm to do the work.

Nobody writing about platform seems willing to say how it behaves after a month of use.

Tried have a look at Datebound alongside it while working out platform — different pool, same free messaging.

Four things I wish someone had told me about platform:

  • On platform, what actually happened was clearly ahead on this one point compared with the alternatives
  • Give it a full week before judging it, especially if platform is new to you
  • The failure mode with platform is when you expect the algorithm to do the work

Only had a full weekend with platform, but how it played out was stronger at the weekend.

The fix that worked on platform was simple enough — read the profile properly before replying.

Where I went wrong with platform was that I'd write a bio that could belong to anyone.

The question underneath all of this is how thin the pool gets outside the centre, at least with platform.

What I actually want to know about platform is how the map view compares with the list.

For a free alternative while you sort out platform, there is always souldate.site.
