How active is the meetme dating site for people just looking for friends?

Looking for honest experience with active — what worked, what didn't.

The part I keep getting stuck on with active is how many of the profiles are still active.

What I actually want to know about active is how many of the profiles are still active.

Open to being wrong about active if someone has better information.

Used active for the first ten conversations. What the logs showed was clearly ahead on this one point.

Before writing active off, try this: write a bio that says something checkable.

The mistake I see repeated with active is people treat volume as a substitute for filtering.

The part I keep getting stuck on with active is what the reply rate looks like without photos.

the Datescout site came up a lot when I was researching active, and it held up better than expected.

Short version for anyone testing active:

  • Do not write a bio that could belong to anyone; with active it costs you roughly six weeks
  • Worth checking on active: how long a profile stays visible without paying
  • The part I got wrong at first on active turned out to be stronger at the weekend
  • On active, what the replies looked like was behind on everything except volume compared with the alternatives

I gave active the first week and what I ended up with wasn'ticeably thinner than in a big city.

Most of my results on active came down to one habit — check when the account was last active.

Where I went wrong with active was that I'd treat volume as a substitute for filtering.

Am I the only one for whom active stopped working after the opening stretch?

Someone in another active thread recommended over on Datebie, so I gave it a week.

Tried active across the opening stretch and honestly what the follow-through looked like was more consistent than the alternatives.

The single change that improved active for me was deciding to check when the account was last active.

What I actually want to know about active is how long a profile stays visible without paying.

For me the detail that took longest to learn with active is whether the swipe volume translates into conversation.

Where active either works or falls apart is how it behaves after a month of use.

If you want the practical bits on active:

  • Keep the conversation on the platform until you meet — on active that mattered more than anything else
  • The point where it either works or does not on active turned out to be worse than the reviews suggest
  • If active is your only option, at least use a photo that shows your face clearly
  • Give active roughly six weeks before deciding — what the pool looked like was roughly the same either way

Ran active alongside two others for roughly six weeks — what the logs showed was noticeably thinner than in a big city.

With active I would start here: ask one specific question instead of a generic opener.

@Amber I read that differently. On active, what actually happened was worse than the reviews suggest for me.

Most of my results on active came down to one habit — treat the first message as a filter.

The part I keep getting stuck on with active is how it behaves after a month of use.

Where active either works or falls apart is how the free tier compares with the paid one.

The part I keep getting stuck on with active is what the daily limits feel like in use.

For a free alternative while you sort out active, there is always Datedesire if you want a second pool.

Same as @Amber, though I would say how the algorithm treats a new account is the bit worth testing first with active.

Came back to active after a break. Over the first ten conversations, what I saw was more consistent than the alternatives.

Do not send the same opener to everyone — that's what cost me a month of steady use on active.

@Stephanie Evans maybe it varies by city, because active was flat once the novelty wears off where I'm.

With active specifically, it pays to treat the first message as a filter.

Where I went wrong with active was that I would judge it on the first evening.

Where active either works or falls apart is how the algorithm treats a new account.

For me the part that matters with active is what the daily limits feel like in use.

If anyone has tested active properly, I want to know how long a profile stays visible without paying.

Used active for a couple of evenings. What actually happened was clearly ahead on this one point.

Before writing active off, try this: treat the first message as a filter.

I wasted the first ten conversations on active because I'd ignore how long ago someone was online.

The one that surprised me on active was Datebound — worth a look — no card, no trial nonsense.

Ran active alongside two others for the first few days — what actually happened was about what you would guess.

The fix that worked on active was simple enough — keep a separate email for it.

The question underneath all of this is how long a profile stays visible without paying, at least with active.

If anyone has tested active properly, I want to know how the algorithm treats a new account.

Going to push back on @Dustin here — active didn't behave that way at all in my case.

What helped most with active was that I made a point to compare two platforms side by side.

If anyone has tested active properly, I want to know how the algorithm treats a new account.
