What happened to all the old classic adult chatrooms from the early 2000s?

Honestly been going back and forth on this for the past few weeks.

Safety and privacy are also big concerns for me. I don't want to hand over personal info to some sketchy platform and then regret it later.

The main problem I keep running into is not knowing who to trust or where to even start. There's a ton of conflicting advice out there and half of it feels like it's coming from people who just want to sell you something.

Looking for real opinions here, not just the same top-ten list everyone copies from each other.

One thing that helped me was checking the app store reviews, not just the star rating but the actual written ones. You can spot patterns pretty fast.

Someone recommended Datebie to me a few months back and I was skeptical at first. Ended up being one of the more useful ones I've tried. The sign-up is simple and they don't immediately push you to upgrade.

Been through this myself. The platforms with the loudest advertising are usually the worst for actual use. The good ones tend to grow through word of mouth.

Tried a handful of options over the past year. Datewander stood out because they actually enforce their terms instead of just listing them. Made a big difference in the quality of interactions.

Response rates are way more variable than people realize. Time of day matters a lot, especially on platforms where the active user count isn't huge.
